What is a Custom MCP Barry integration?

Barry connects to your own tools through a custom MCP connection and proactively completes work in them. MCP is simply the plug that lets Barry reach a program that isn't on our list — an in-house job tracker, a supplier portal, an industry-specific estimating program — and treat it like any other connected tool.

Barry doesn't stop at the apps on this page. If your business runs on something built in-house, an industry-specific program, or any other tool you want Barry to reach, a custom MCP connection gives Barry a door into it — and Barry becomes your AI employee, an AI operations assistant, in that tool too.

Unlike workflow builders such as Zapier, as soon as you connect:

  • Barry learns your business on its own — including how your own tools fit into the day.
  • You create systems and automations that update themselves, in your own tools as well as the apps everyone runs.
  • Barry connects your own tools to all the other tools you use, so one text updates every one of them.
  • Barry asks for approval before anything sensitive runs — and you choose exactly which of your tools it may touch.

What can you ask Barry to do in your own tools?

Once your tool is connected, text one of these to Barry and it sets the system up:

  1. Every evening, pull today's completed jobs from our in-house job tracker and draft the invoices in our books.

  2. When a quote is approved in our estimating program, create the job in our job software and put the start date on the calendar.

  3. Each Monday, check our supplier portal for open orders and tell me anything that will arrive after the job starts.

  4. When the crew texts a material list, place it in our supplier portal as a draft order and send it to me to approve.

Barry works across all of them at once — Custom MCP is one connection of many.

Questions owners ask

What is a custom MCP connection, in plain terms?

It is the way Barry reaches a tool that isn't on this page. If your business runs on something built in-house, a program specific to your trade, or any other software you want Barry working in, a custom MCP connection gives Barry a door into it. You choose which parts of that tool Barry may use.

Do I need a developer to set this up?

Many programs already offer an MCP connection you can switch on. For an in-house tool, whoever built or maintains it connects it once, and from then on you talk to Barry the same way you do for every other tool. Ask us and we will point you at the simplest route for your setup.
